Here's a gorgeous shot of one of the many adventures my wife and I enjoy together as often as we can - a warm, sunny Saturday at Sippo Lake in Canton, Ohio. Every adventure we share is ridiculously fun and very inexpensive - we highly recommend making time to go play - get creative and have a blast! You'll be glad you did!
Hello! I'm Andy. Great to meet you!
First things first... I'm an eternal optimist - but you probably guessed that already, since that's what this blog is all about! I've always felt that life is far too precious and far too short to be wasted dwelling on the negative things that try to drag our everyday lives down. I'm not delusional - I deal with the garbage and do my very best to not let it damage my life and the lives of those around me. Why spend your days in misery, you know?
I'm a happily married husband to the love of my life (See? Online dating does work!), proud father of a wonderful and smart daughter, supportive stepdad of a free-spirited stepson and terrific soon-to-be daughter-in-law, and doting grandpa to a very ornery (but ridiculously cute!) granddaughter... and a soon-to-be grandson, too!
I was born and raised in northeast Ohio, not far from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I've lived a few other places and I've traveled a lot, but I can honestly say... there's nowhere else on Earth I'd rather live than here. I'm very glad I moved back.
Amazingly, I've somehow managed to earn three college degrees: an Associate's in Social Service and a Bachelor's and Master's in Communication. I got the first one because I really enjoy helping people, and the last two because I feel like the world is progressively getting worse at communicating (despite having more ways to communicate every day... weird, isn't it?) I say amazingly, because for quite awhile after high school, life kept getting in the way - my first degree came 9 long years after I graduated high school. (Side note here: it is never too late to further your education, but be sure to do it as cheaply as you possibly can - don't get buried under a mountain of student loan debt - it sucks!)
It might not sound like it so far, but I'm a pretty simple kinda guy. I enjoy spending as much quality time with my wife and family as possible, and I like being at home as much as I enjoy getting out and seeing new things. As my dad likes to say, "Home is a base of operations for your adventures." I love a good buffet (but somehow am not overweight), watching auto racing at my favorite local tracks, visiting museums and natural areas, playing video games (probably a little too much - I have two websites dedicated to them!), reading a good book, driving, biking... jeez, I'm probably boring you now, so I'll stop here. Hehe.
There are quite a few places I'm looking forward to experiencing with my wife as we're able... touring Europe (especially Germany, where she was born), going on an extended free-form trip through the western USA, visiting Japan (and experiencing some serious sushi!), the list goes on and on. I feel so lucky to live where I do - there is so incredibly much to see and do within a few hours' drive of home. It's fantastic for folks with limited resources like us.
I love seeing my children and grandchildren grow and experience all this great world has to offer. Watching them light up with excitement at something new makes my heart smile.
I also sincerely hope that what you read here helps make your life more fun and enjoyable - and the lives of those around you, too! I always welcome your positive feedback and thoughts - feel free to contact me any time!
Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for reading!
